Seed of Hope needs you!

At Seed of Hope we have just celebrated our tenth anniversary. It is hard to believe that ten years have passed since we met our first four students. I still remember the day clearly. As they stood there, all their belongings in one shared backpack, I’m not sure who was more nervous – them or us! One thing is for sure – none of us knew what the future would hold. From one small centre with those four students, we now have four centres throughout Kenya which, from January 2013, will have the capacity to enrol 385 disadvantaged youth! Over the past ten years we have had over 1000 students graduate from the program and it has been amazing to see what they have been able to acheive. They truly are having a positive impact in their families and communities.
Seed of Hope Students
All of our students share one thing in common – they do not have the opportunity to attend or complete secondary school, leaving them with very limited opportunities for the future and, in turn, limted hope. Our aim is to transform their situation, allowing them to explore their potential through training in Life Skills, Business Skills and Vocational Skills. After the training we nurture the graduates into employment or self-employment and do all that we can to ensure they are able to be financially independent, free from cycles of poverty and exploitation.

Seed of Hope Graduate

We are always seeking new ways to reach out to disadvantaged youth and one of our goals over the last couple of years has been to increase the study options available to our students.

With this in mind we are launching a new Vocational Skills training course in January – ‘Homecare Management’ will train students for high quality domestic work or for the Catering and Hospitality industry.

To get this course up and running there are a few things we still need. Maybe you’re moving or simply doing a home makeover and you have a few things that could be used to transform the future of young people who so desperately need your support!

We are looking for the following items for the training course:
Cookers
Gas Cylinders
Bed (single)
Mattress (single bed)
Sofa (two seater)
Small Dining Table with chairs
Kitchen utensils
Fridge/freezer

Donate now to transform the future of disadvantaged teenagers!  We would be extremely grateful if you have any of these items to donate.  Please contact us if you have items to donate or would like more information.  Thank you!
